Gretchen Bowie
Graduated from Sparta High School in 2016 and played 3 varsity sports during my high school
career (field hockey, basketball, and softball). I graduated and played Division 1 softball at St.
John’s University. I received my undergraduate degree in Adolescence Education with a
concentration in Biology (2020) and received my master’s degree in Literacy (2021). A few of
the accolades that were awarded to me during my time at St. John’s University consist of the
following: starting all 200 games in my career, Louisville Slugger of the Week/NFCA D1 Player
of the Week, Big East Defensive Player of the Year, 1 st Team All-Big East (all 4 years), multiple
Big East Player of the Week and Weekly Big Easy Honor Roll awards, and Team MVP. Over
my softball career, I batted .320, recording 40 homeruns, 41 doubles, 152 RBIs, 13 triples, and
had a career slugging percentage of .630. This is my second year as a High School Biology
Teacher at Cedar Grove High School. I was the Volunteer Assistant Varsity Softball Coach for
Sparta High School last season, and I am now entering my first season as the Head Softball
Coach for Sparta High School.
